Wearable Personal Air Quality Meter Fights Global Warming

Posted on 21 August 2011

Made By Makers has put on their site this personal air quality meter that is wearable and designed so that you won’t be embarrassed to do so.  Purchase of this device, which can be accomplished at fashion stores, results in a couple environmental wins:

  • Part of the proceeds go to global warming research
  • The device, when eventually no longer used, can break down into recyclable waste
  • The device only uses the motion of your body, kinetic energy, to power itself.  No batteries!

Nice looking device. I almost thought it was something for the Wii when I first saw it. That’s great that it does not require any batteries to run. Hopefully lots of these sell.

I love the idea of products being recyclable after use and using kinetic energy rather than batteries. I wonder what the price point on something like this would run.

This is quite appropriate in this time when we are somewhat concerned about the pollution that is created by the many mechanical components that are active. The fact that is also breaks down into recyclable waste matches the theme of air quality and environmental concern.
