Russian designer Nikolay Suslov has designed a disposable bed for the homeless that can be quickly assembled and produced at an acceptable minimal cost.
The sleek design shades the head of the person sleeping in the bed and keeps them 7.9 inches off of the ground, isolating them from moisture and transfer of ground temperature.
The suspension-oriented design should provide a comfortable, if not springy, recline.
The bed can also be used like a chaise for attending outdoor events such as concerts and sports events.

I Vancouver British Columbia we have a major problem with the homeless
and its groing every day. There is a big push from Government to solve the
problem before the 2010 Olympics BUT we all know this is impossible. Perhaps
assisting in makeing life on the streets more bareable would be a step in
the right direction.
Would love to here more about the bed and its production.

Les, I spent some vacation time in Vancouver and don’t recall a bad homeless problem there. I must have been in a “cleaner” area made for tourists or something.
I tried to find more information for you on the bed, but most of the news is the same recycled story.
I’m wondering if giving the homeless a good place to sleep on the streets might have the opposite desired effect? It will be more comfortable and they’ll won’t be driven to get off the street?
