Finally a Robot That Can Take Abuse

Ok I’ll be the first one to admit that I’m never really too impressed with what robots can do. I always hear about millions of dollars of funding being spent on robotics, and I still haven’t found a robot that i really think could make a huge impact… until i watched this video. Boston Dynamics has built their reputation with what they have built on four legs. Their newest bot, the LittleDog can carry up to 350 pounds and is shockingly stable. The technology this robot uses I have never seen before and I’m truly impressed.

Here’s the BigDog, if you have a really short attention span, just fast forward to 35 seconds.

This thing is scary — but it would be even better if it had a small impeller and inflatable bladders such that it could enter deep water, inflate the air-bags and push itself (and pull men/equipment) through marine environs…

(should be able to hang standard bullet-proof vests on it as body armor. So that if it becomes disabled, or a person needing a verst is found it can be pulled from death-bot)

Yeah that’s a good idea, it’s something that would definitely take a lot more, effort, and money to add on.
