Combination Digital/Analog Clock For Those Who Can’t Decide

Posted on 11 November 2008

For those that can’t make up their mind on whether they want a digital or analog clock, here is the answer in the form of a design concept from Pinto Design of Japan.  It’s both analog and digital at once, with the minutes being displayed in digital form and the hour represented by a hand.

If you can appreciate the clock design, maybe you will also like Pinto’s trash can concept, with the can half-disappearing into the wall.  I haven’t yet decided on how you will prevent the wall from getting soiled when you go for the inevitable three-pointer bouncing off the wall.

This is the first time I have seen something of this type, and that is somewhat surprising, as digital and analog clocks have been around for a long period of time. One might get used to this clock, but it might also feel awkward everytime the clock is looked at, as the viewer would need to think a little bit more before putting together the hour and minute.
